Customer Review: Crapy PSP Charging Cradle
This cradle is terrible. It is hard to get the PSP into the cradle. You have to fiddle with it to align the connectors and it fits tight. It takes two hands to remove the PSP and you must pick it up from where ever you have it sitting meaning the cord moves and gets tangled up.
Customer Review: Nice concept - if it worked…
Just got this in today and so far it’s not working…. (shipping was fast though!)
There wasn’t a very detailed description of what this gizmo is, so I’ll attempt to provide some information. This unit is a “cradle” (that much was given), but it is also being billed as being a “charger”, which in my opinion is misleading. This unit has no charging function in itself - to power this unit you will need to plug a charger / transformer into the unit (transformer not included, guessing you’re expected to use the one that came with your PSP).The power is transfered through the cradle to the PSP. This disappointed me, as I planned on using this as a charging unit for when I took my PSP to work - so I didn’t have to haul my charger with me.
The unit has some built in speakers, but I have not been able to get them to function. The only instructions included with the unit, is what is printed on the back of the box. The instructions are for the function of the three controls/outputs on the back of the unit.
* AV OUTPUT for AV output
* Play/Charge/OFF - Slide to play your PSP console, charge PSP console or turn the speaker function off.
* LED ON/OFF - Slide to turn the blue LED on or off.
The LED lights work (and look nice), and the switch for turning them on and off worked. But I haven’t been able to get the speakers to work. I thought it might be a problem with fitting the PSP console to the unit - you have to fit the console over a 1/8″ headphone plug and a power plug and press the PSP down onto these plugs. I believe I got the PSP fully attached, but I’m not sure if I did or not - like I mentioned the cradle’s speakers didn’t work and I really couldn’t tell if I was getting power to the PSP or if it was simply running off its own battery. The cradle also allows you to tilt the PSP a bit so that you can adjust the angle of the screen.
I plan on keeping the unit I received and seeing if I can get it to work - worst case scenario, I’ll disassemble it and see if there is something I can fix (which I know will void any warranty and make the unit unreturnable). This unit is a bit on the cheaply made side, I wish someone would make something like this that was a little more heavy duty - like they do for the iPods. I’m giving it at least two stars as I plan on keeping it - if I ever do get it to function 100%, I’ll come back an append my review.
