Pokemon Gold (Gameboy Color) Pokemon Gold (Gameboy Color) POK MON GOLD offers another game for fans of the popular Pok mon characters, and the list of features is almost overwhelming. Explore a world with more than 250 Pok mon! The game keeps track of the time via an internal clock, and some Pok mon will only come out during certain times of the day, which means you will quite literally have to get up early in the morning to find them all. Also new to POK MON GOLD is Pok mon breeding. Youve heard of Pikachu, but have you heard of Pichu? The PokeGear adds a more streamlined interface for an even greater RPG experience. As in the past games, link up with a friend, rival, or fellow trainer to trade or battle Pok mon. You can link up to your previous version of POK MON RED or BLUE or YELLOW to bring all of your favorite Pok mon into the new game. This version of the game includes Pok mon found only in POK MON GOLD

Pokemon, Silver Version Pokemon, Silver Version Featuring a new adventure that’s filled with numerous enhancements and innovations, this long-awaited sequel to Pok mon Red, Blue, and Yellow greatly improves upon the series’ winning formula, and makes for an even more insanely addictive and wholly absorbing gaming experience.

Like Pok mon Gold–which essentially is the same story, with minor gameplay variations–Pok mon Silver casts players in the familiar role of a young Pok mon Trainer who’s out to collect as many different kinds of Pok mon as possible. As in previous games, gameplay consists mostly of exploration (completing various quests in the process) and Pok mon battles, which employ a unique battle system that’s like a complex twist on rock-paper-scissors.

But, despite the similarities, it’s quite apparent that Pok mon Silver is a whole new ball game from the start. The game is played out in real time, with the current time and day of the week (recorded by an internal clock) having a direct impact on gameplay elements, such as what Pok mon you’ll find in the wild, and when certain events occur and characters appear.

While there are too many new and improved features in Pok mon Silver to list here, among the highlights are 100 new Pok mon (including two new types), new evolution processes (including breeding), and a more streamlined game interface that has better-organized menus and button shortcuts.

Although it’s easier to progress in Pok mon Silver than in the previous games, the sheer amount of fun and game time that’s involved is daunting. You’d be hard-pressed to find a better value than this one. –Joe Hon

Pros:

  • Insanely addictive and wholly absorbing gaming experience
  • Time and day of week impact gameplay directly
  • Bevy of new features and hidden secrets
  • Improved graphics and more streamlined game interface

Cons:

  • Minor compatibility issues when using Game Link with previous versions

Customer Review: Pokemon Silver
It’s a fun game to own and play along with it’s counterpart,Pokemon Gold. Only certain aspects of game play are negatives such as the time aspect and daily events as well as having to chase the legendary pokemon unlike in Pokemon Red and Blue. Missing certain events and having to wait literally a week sometimes to return to them is slightly annoying as is having to capture certain pokemon during specific times of day as they are in some cases specifically nocturnal or their percent in a given area is extremely low. Other than these things the game plays very well and the improvement to color from just a plain solid red or blue color is great. Seeing each pokemon in their given coloration is really nice. The added new types and moves are also a plus. Overall a well worth buy for a Pokemon fan.
Customer Review: This is definitely the best Pokemon game EVER. 4.7 stars.
I was so amazed at the night and day thing. The Pokemon were so so cute and I easily got attached. Me and my bro got this in October 2000 and we were so hooked!

Customer Review: Yet another installment in the Pokemon series.
I won’t bother saying what is fun about Pokemon for obvious reasons. I will try and sum up why this is different than the previous ones. There are many new Pokemon added, and this is before the new Pokemon get stupid and unimaginative like in future versions. There’s a whole new storyline and character set. The graphics are by far the best in the series so far. The sound/music is still lackluster. The only thing really holding the game back at all is the feeling that they only made it to make some money. This is probably the last game in the series before it converts completely into the “make the game and cash in” stage. The “cash in” stage lasts until Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, the first original ones since, well, Gold and Silver.

Pokemon Ruby Pokemon Ruby Pok mon Ruby’s updated graphics with weather effects, amazing sound, more than 200 Pok mon with over 100 new species–as well as its faithful adherence to the existing series of Pok mon games–makes for a welcome evolution in the series.

First, the game has a lot in common with Pok mon games Silver, Gold, and Crystal. For example, players can choose to be a boy or a girl trainer, an internal clock sets events at certain times, and you re the game’s handy-dandy Pok dex helps players keep track of the many stats. You’re main goal is still to beat all the Gym Trainers and become the Pok mon Master. If you’ve played the old games, you will be right at home. But not all is the same.

The most obvious change is in the battles themselves. Now that two Pok mon can fight on your side at the same time, you can tag-team them against an enemy by taking advantage of the strengths of your Pok mons while covering their weaknesses. For example, you can now have a water Pok mon watch your fire Pok mon’s back. You can also attack more than one Pok mon at a time.

A whole new element to the game focuses on how berries are used in battle. And if you collect enough berries, you can take them to a Berry Blender and make a Pok Block, which is a little super-charged candy that raises your Pok mon’s “Condition” attributes. You can then groom your Pok mon for regional contests and compete for ribbons like “Best of Show,” which will unlock additional contests. There’s even strategy in how to best use your berries: pick too many and the berry tree will disappear; plant berries, though, and a tree will grow. You can also build a Secret Base in special areas of the game, which you can decorate just like you can your room.

And let us not forget that Pok mon Ruby has a kickin’ multiplayer system, too. You can trade Pok mon, and link up to four players for incredible battles. The only downside is that you can’t link up with the old Game Boy Color games. –Bryan Karsh

Pros:

  • You can control two Pok mon in battle
  • Much needed graphic and sound facelift
  • Nice multiplayer feature (requires link cable and extra game cartridge)

Cons:

  • Can’t trade Pok mon with Game Boy Color

Customer Review: A Gem In Its Class
Having been a Pokemon fan for quite a number of years, I am proud to report that Pokemon Ruby is an excellent version in the Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald trilogy. My original game had to be replaced due to battery and saving issues but considering the age of this game, such problems can and will from time to time appear. To me this has been a fun “neverending” game and is my favorite of the “gem” trilogy. Whether “on the road” in my DS or in my Game Cube (with GBA adapter) Pokemon Ruby has been a constant and valued companion to this senior citizen. The game has excellent graphics and not bad sound. Play is excellent and enjoyable. If you’ve played the more recent Pokemon games and like them - I suggest you give the older generation of Pokemon games a try.
Customer Review: shipping
speedy shipping, i think would have been great, i had a 2 week window before my grandsons birthday. it still took a month because the seller forgot.

Customer Review: Gift for son
I bought this game as a present for my son. I was pleased with how quickly the item got to my house and mostly how easy it was to order on line. I will continue to order his games this way.
