I used to think that working for money and having a high paying job was good since that was all I learned in school and college. Teaching financial education is so important, especially today, and more financial literacy articles are needed. Now, thanks to Robert Kiyosaki, author of the best selling book, Rich Dad Poor Dad and many other related books, I know that what I learned in school will not make me rich. Schools, unfortunately, do not see the significance of financial literacy for teens and children. Also, thanks to Robert’s ability to open my mind, I now know I have to be rich to enjoy financial freedom. Everyone who exerts enough effort will have financial freedom as their reward, and it is possible for anyone. Robert has taught me that I must educate myself to learn how to make my money work for me and create financial freedom. We weren’t poor but I knew then and I know now that there were weeks when that extra money really helped her out with the family budget. Whether or not your family would be helped by a weekly increase in cash flow you are probably thinking that there must be some ways for teens to make money that they can then use to support themselves. If they have money of their own then they don’t need any from you. Allowing teenagers to make their own money and control how they spend it offers many benefits, over and above the fact that they don’t have to come and borrow from you if they have their own money. Teenagers earning their own money learn the value of hard work, they also learn that a dollar doesn’t stretch quite as far as they had thought it did.
